MEL WAITERS

With a mesmerizing and powerful voice, Mel Waiters belts out the best R & B show-stopping tunes ever written. He has even been associated with the word superstar. Mel began performing in 1974 as a teen-ager at teen clubs in San Antonio, where he was born and raised. He moved from the clubs to the church where he sang in the choir. As he grew older, his career led him to the radio field where he worked as a deejay. Still performing every chance he got, he eventually landed a government contract for several years to entertain at military bases.

With a huge success beginning to form as a performer, Mel began concentrating on a full time music career. He released two albums entitled Suki Suki Man and I'm Serious, on the Serious Sounds label. The song Hit It And Quit It on the I'm Serious album propelled his career into the public's view as an Rhythm and Blues giant in the making. A few years later, Mel moved his career to the Waldoxy label where his debut album Woman In Need firmly set him atop the standings as one of the greatest R & B singers around. His success lies in his sensitivity and sensual voice. "Teddy Pendergrass was the main influence on my singing style," Mel says.

Mel has appeared with such greats as Bobby Blue Bland, Latimore, and Cicero Blake. Mel's album has been quoted as "an absolutely sensual and sensational production that promotes an incredible career in the making". He is quickly becoming an accomplished singer, songwriter and producer. Mel was awarded The Jackson Music Award in 1996 and 1998. With the outstanding success of his hit song Got My Whiskey, Mel is assured of many more awards to come. According to Mel, his biggest award is that he has been able to continue in the career that he loves
